ABOUT
Reliable. Motivated. Enthusiastic. Smart. It's me.Hi! I'm Angelica, and I have been working as a Virtual Assistant since 2019. I was the Senior VA + Writing Coach + Graphic Designer for a Europe-based publishing company.Recently, I was the Operations VA for a confidence-boosting, cash creating Business Growth Strategist based in Canada.
As a Writing Coach
Even reviewing the writers' articles has a system. You see, in order to review many articles during the workday, I follow a process. You can't just pick an article to review, and then another.I came up with this succession of articles to review based on experience. Also, over time, I got aquainted with the writers' schedules. With that, I can tell when they'll submit their next article. Therefore, I'll put them on hold and tend to other writers. That's because I'm waiting on their next article so that I can do an efficient batch review. Rather than just 1 article.
Here's that system:
If there are newcomers, prioritize their articles.
Prioritize newcomers' edited articles.
Prioritize newcomers' initial articles.
Reason: New writers need feedback immediately because they need corrections ASAP. With it, they can edit their articles accordinly and apply the feedback you gave them to their next articles.
After newcomers, check if any of the senior writers' articles are edited.
There are still times when senior writers' articles get returned for editing. So:
Check the workboard for any edited articles from senior writers.
If there is, check it immediately.
If there's none, move on to the next instruction.
Tend to the rest of the articles
Again, you can't just pick anything randomly. There are factors that you need to consider when picking whcih writers' articles to review. There's:
Whether they've been making recurring mistakes that need to be addressed and corrected ASAP.
Number of articles they have for review.
How much time it takes to review their articles.
That's the order I follow.I'd prioritize a writer who falls on #1 on that list. We want to correct our writers ASAP so that they can apply the improvement opportunities to their next articles. Then, the writer who has already submitted a lot of articles for review needs attention. You must tend to their articles to avoid them piling up.Lastly, the writer who has articles that take the least time to be reviewed is chosen. That's because you can expect to efficiently review their article.
What tools I use
#1: Article formatting and writing checklist (based on the standards and guidelines set by the company)
This is for copy-pasting the requirements on the writer's personal Google doc.
#2: Coaching Writers Guide
Where I copy-paste the feedback template.
#3: Hemingway
I use to check the readability level of the article. Plus, it's a tool to see wheter the article has any very- or hard-to-read sentences.
#4: Copyscape
The tool we use to scan for plagiarism.
#5: Grammarly
This tool is actively open during a reivew. It asssists me with what kind of feedback to give. Really helpful in spotting:
- Misspelled words.
- Wrong prepositions.
- Misplaced characters.
- Missing words/ incomplete sentences.
#6: Dynalist
To plan and navigate through the workday with ease.
